Setting MBUS communication

There are two possible ways to connect inverters to the Smart Logger via MBUS: via power lines via built-in MBUS or external MBUS module. To set up the MBUS communication, follow the instruction below.

Prerequisites

• You have logged in to the WebUI as Advanced user.
• You have connected system properly acoording to the Smart Logger manual.
• You have prepared the SN list of all inverters or scanned it via Fusion Solar App.
• AC circuit-breakers of the inverters cable lines are swithed ON.

Procedure

For built-in MBUS:

1. Go to Maintenance > select Connect device on the left panel > set Built-in MBUS to Enable and specify the duration for determining Device disconnection time to 5 min.  
   
   
2. Go to Monitoring > on the left panel select MBUS-inside > Networking Settings > set Anti-crosstalk to Enable > set Network frequency band to 2-12 (MHz) > enter Box-type transformers  number connected to the SL (leave as 0 in case of one TS) > enter Windings number connected to the SL (leave as 0 in case of one wind) > set Networking to Enable > Submit
   NOTE:
   If the Anti-crosstalk is enabled, only inverters from SN List can be found by Smart Logger.
   If the inverter is far away from the Smart Logger or single-core cable is used on site and the network quality is poor, the frequency band needs to be set as 0.5-3.7 MHz.
   
3. Go to SN List > click to Add button to add inverters SN manually > Confirm for all inverters.
   Or click Template and download the csv file template > edit it via Excel and press Import.
   Or you can form the whitelist automatcally by Fusion Solar App. Turn off the internet connection on your phone, press on ... on the right upper corner > Device commissioning > press ... > MBUS whitelist > enter File name > Next > Scan batch > scan all QR codes of inverters > set inverters name and address > Save the file and Import it here to SL.
   
   
   
4. Go to STA List tab > check wether the number of devices on the network is the same as that in the SN List and imported list and their MAC address is recognized. Devices that are not connected need to be manually added as in step 3.
   
   
   
5. If all devices are added go to SN List tab > click Synchronize to synchronize the transformer number and winding number
   
   
6. Choose Maintanance > choose Connect Device tab on the left panel > click Auto. Search 
   
   
7. If the quantity is inconsistent with that in SN List > click Add Devices to add it manually > select Device type as SUN2000 > set Address accordingly to your list > click Add Devices
   NOTE:
   If the connected device can't be found, try to upgrade the MBUS Frimeware to the latest version. You can find the instruction here on the Help Centre platform.

For external MBUS:

1. Go to Settings > on Comm. Param. panel select RS485 > set the Baud rate for COM port that is used to MBUS module connecting to 115200 > click Submit
   
   
2. Go to Maintenance > Connect Device > click Auto. Search to add the device automatically, or click Add Devices > select Device type as MBUS and Port number accordingly > click Add Devices
   
   
3. Go to Monitoring > on the left panel select MBUS (COMX-XXX) > Networking Settings > set Baud rate to 115200 > proceed all other settings from step 2 in the previous clause for built-in MBUS.
   NOTE:
   If the Anti-crosstalk is enabled, the only inverters from SN List can be found by Smart Logger.
   If the inverter is far away from the Smart Logger or single-core cable is used on site and the network quality is poor, the frequency band needs to be set as 0.5-3.7 MHz.
