Setting RS-485 communication for Smart Logger and Inverters

This section describes how to connect inverters to Smart Logger via RS-485 interface.

Prerequisites

• You have logged in to the WebUI as Advanced user.
• You have connected system properly acoording to the Smart Logger manual.
• You have turned ON AC or DC switch of inverters.

Procedure

1. Connect communication cable to 1 (RS485 differential signal +) and 3 (RS485 differential signal -) pins OR 2 (RS485 differential signal +) and 4 (RS485 differential signal -) to the Smart Logger COM1-3 (+ and - accordingly).
   
   
2. Go to Settings > Comm. Param. > select RS485 on the left panel > set parameters for COM-port you are using for communication with inverters
   NOTE:
   The default settings for the COM port should be as shown below:
   - Protocol: Modbus
   - Baud rate: 9600
   - Parity: None
   - Stop Bit: 1
   - Start address: 1
   - End address: 247
   
   
3. Go to Maintenance > select Connect device on the left panel > click Auto Search.
   Or you can add devices manually as in the step 4 below
   NOTE:
   If the inverter can't be found by Smart Logger:
   - check the communication line connection
   - if you are using long (more than 10m) SFTP cable, use only one twisted pair for A and B instead using two different twisted pairs for A and B accordingly
   - disconnect the communication cable connector and measure voltage between pins, there should be around 0.5Volts.
   - connect with the Fusion Solar app to the inverter and check if RS485 communication parameters are the same as on step 2 of this instruction.
   
   
4. Go to Maintenance > select Connect device on the left panel > click Add Devices > select Device Type as SUN2000, Connection mode to COM port which is using for communication > Address to any fre address from 1 to 247.
